Inside Mount Measuring Guide
The mounting brackets sit in the opening of the window's frame, allowing the shade or blind to look flush or nearly flush with the frame or wall. This is the prefered mounting method and should be used when possible.
The brackets (hardware supporting the shade or blind) sits in the opening of the window's frame, allowing the shade or blind to look flush or nearly flush with the frame or walls. This creates a "cleaner" look and allows you to see the natural beauty of the window frame. This is the preferred way to mount blinds and shades.Measure the width inside the window opening at the top, middle and bottom. Round to the nearest 1/8 inch. Record the narrowest width.Measure the height inside the window opening at the left, right and center. Record the tallest measurement. Record your measurement as WIDTH x HEIGHT.Submit the exact opening for your measurements - do not take any deductions. The factory will make a slight deduction to allow for the brackets and so the treatment will raise and lower smoothly. The factory normally deducts between 1/16" and 3/8" from the width on each side and between 1/4" and 1/2" from the height. Measure the window opening depth (recess) to make sure there is enough room to install the mounting brackets. Most window blinds and shades require a minimum of a 1.5" opening. If your space is only 1.5", please consult with our customer service representatives to ensure the space is adequate for the shade or blind you intend to purchase for the space.NEVER measure existing blinds or use their specifications (from their packaging, invoices, or shipping materials) as the basis for your new blinds. Double check your measurements! There are no refunds or returns based on incorrectly measured, recorded or conveyed measurements.
Outside Mount Measuring Guide
The mounting brackets are attached to the wall and the blind covers the window frame. Use this method when an inside mount is not possible (due to insufficent window depth or obstructions.
The mounting brackets sit outside or on top of the window frame. With this mount, the shade or blind covers the window frame as well as the window. The outside mount is often chosen to hide an unattractive window or create the illusion of a larger window.Measure the width across the window for the area that you want the blind to cover. You can typically add 2 to 4 inches (1 to 2 inches on each side) to the actual width of the window to ensure that the sunlight doesn't peak through the ends. However, be aware that an excessive window treatment width can appear overly large when the shade is raised and the window frame beneath can be seen. Record this measurement.Measure the height of the area where you want the blind to cover. The height you record should include the headrail and valance. Record this measurement. The factory will not take any deductions from your measurements for an outside mount. Deductions are only taken for inside mounts. Your window treatment will arrive with the exact measurements you provide for an outside mount.Double check your measurements! There are no refunds or returns based on incorrectly measured, recorded or conveyed measurements.
